About Nourishmint
Nourishmint Consulting was founded in 2020 and operates out of Toronto, ON. Nourishmint will soon be offering nutrition counselling services. Once we launch, an appointment with our Registered Dietitian will support you in achieving optimal health through the food that you eat.
Steph Davies, RD, MHSc
Founder & CEO
Hello! I'm Steph, a Registered Dietitian dedicated to helping you foster a healthy relationship with food and the environment. My nutrition counselling approach emphasizes working in collaboration with you to achieve a balanced diet where all foods fit - to me, healthy nutrition means finding a balance between foods that nourish you and foods that you love. Together, we'll develop sustainable healthy habits that will empower you to become the best version of yourself.
I believe that nutrition is the most profound form of self-care, offering nourishment to yourself and others.
Why Am I a Registered Dietitian?
My passion for science, health, and food inspired me to become a Registered Dietitian. From a young age, I understood how nutrition impacts our mental, physical, and environmental well-being. I’ve been cooking since I could hold a spoon, and the biggest way that I show love is through the food that I make.Â
I chose this career to help people achieve their best health and prevent disease. Practicing balanced nutrition can help you avoid or manage disease and reduce reliance on medications. I believe balanced nutrition should be accessible to everyone, and I’m here to help you discover the powerful connection between what you eat and your overall health.
When I am not working as a Registered Dietitian you can find me at the gym, climbing or with my dogs. I love spending time in nature and really value moving my body. I am also a major foodie! I love to cook and bake and try out new recipes, specifically those of differing cultures than my own. If I’m not in the kitchen then I am on the hunt to find the next best restaurant or takeout food.
Education & Credentials
Professional Licenses
I’ve completed a Bachelor of Applied Science in Nutrition and Food, with a minor in Psychology, a Certificate in Food Security, and a specialization in Entrepreneurship at Toronto Metropolitan University (formerly known as Ryerson University). I continued my education at TMU and pursued a Masters in Health Science Communication.
I am licensed to practice dietetics in Ontario under the College of Dietitians of Ontario (license #16560). I hold professional liability insurance and membership with Dietitians of Canada, where I can access the newest research in nutrition and health science as it pertains to dietetics.
What is a Registered Dietitian?
Registered Dietitians are a protected and regulated profession in Canada. This means that just like Doctors or Engineers, I am held accountable to adhere to a high set of standards and ethics that protects the public by the College of Dietitians of Ontario. In addition to a bachelor’s degree, RDs require a minimum of 1250 hours of practical experience and must complete a federal exam (the Canadian Dietetic Registration Exam).
Dietitians approach nutrition with an evidence-based lens, this means that we rely on science and research studies to help inform the nutrition recommendations we provide to clients. We also take a dietary approach to nutrition; we work on making changes to the food that you eat before we recommend supplements or additional products.
